UNAPOLOGETICALLY APOLOGETIC

WHO DEFENDS THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST?

An apologetic is one who gives a formal defense or justification of a theory or doctrine.
To be a Christian apologetic is to be called to study the Gospel, know the WORD
and defend/justify the Gospel of Christ.

In as much as some are called purposely for this purpose of solely defending the gospel; answering questions and defending the faith through debates and teachings, we are all called to be apologetic in nature as believers.

Every Christian is called to be apologetic. All through scripture, all of Jesus Christ’s disciples and followers were trained, prepared and ready to defend the gospel at all times.

It is right for me to think this way about all of you, because I have you in my heart, and you are all partners with me in grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and establishment of the gospel.
Philippians 1:7 HCSB

Paul said we are all partners in the defense and establishment of the gospel. This means that wherever a believer happens to find him or herself, the gospel of Christ must prevail. We must be able to give answers to anyone who questions the gospel and teach people to come to the right understanding of the gospel.

NOW IS THE TIME FOR COMPASSIONATE, YET UNCOMPROMISINGLY EXPRESSED, TRUTH

Abdu H. Murray

Brothers and fathers, listen now to my defense before you.”
Acts 22:1 HCSB

Paul, the Apostle stood in defense of the gospel several times and knew what it meant to be an apologetic: it requires having close relationship with Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit and our Father God. Apostle Paul told us to study the scriptures to show ourselves approved onto God, so we can rightly divide the WORD of Truth.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Apostle Paul to Timothy in 2 Timothy 2:15

DO YOU KNOW THAT NEGLECTING YOUR APOLOGETIC ROLE AS A BELIEVER OF CHRIST IMPLIES THAT YOU DO NOT HONOUR THE MESSIAH AS LORD IN YOUR HEART?

…but honor the Messiah as Lord in your hearts. Always be ready to give a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you.
1 Peter 3:15 HCSB

ALWAYS be READY!!!

How ready are you to defend the gospel of Christ Jesus?
Are you concerned about the many false doctrines that the devil takes advantage of to enslave the Christian?

  • LOVE IS THE BEST APOLOGETIC
  • THE WORD OF GOD IS OUR STANDARD: JESUS CHRIST IS OUR STANDARD
  • BE PRAYERFUL: WE HEAR HEAVEN’S COUNSEL THROUGH PRAYER
  • BE DISCERNING: AVOID PEOPLE WHO ARE NOT INTERESTED IN KNOWING THE TRUTH
  • BE READY TO LISTEN TO HE WHO IS THE REVEALER OF TRUTH, THE HOLY SPIRIT
  • THE END GOAL OF THE APOLOGETIC IS ONLY TO REVEAL CHRIST

He must gently reprove those who oppose him, in the hope that God may grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth.
2 Timothy 2:25

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write unto you, and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.
Jude 1:3

Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
2 Corinthians 10:5

Holding fast the faithful word as he hath been taught, that he may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers.
Titus 1:9

The assignment of the apologetic needs total dependency upon the one who is called the Lord of the Harvest. He or she must be close enough to Christ to hear HIM, even the whispers of the Holy Spirit. Being apologetic comes with many attacks and persecutions because apologetics stand a chance to bring the hardest of hearts under subjection to the Light of God’s WORD; and trust me, the devil won’t like that very much. But when he or she stands, many would stand.

12 But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel13 so that it has become evident to the whole [b]palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; 14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill: 16 [c]The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains; 17 but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel.
Philipians 1:12-17

LET’S TALK ABOUT FAITH

BY FAITH, NOT BY SIGHT

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Jesus Christ made two statements that gives us the foundational representation of defining faith:

The first, we have Jesus telling us “With God all things are possible.” in Mathew 19:26 and the second, Jesus said “All things are possible to him who believes” in Mark 9:23.

These statements sum up what faith’s focus is and the expressions of faith according to the scriptures.

In the first one, we see faith applied to God. We see God as the object of faith. Knowing who God is, most Christians would easily believe this saying wholeheartedly that truly, with God all things are possible. And in the second one, faith is applied to the one who believes. This is the part that is difficult for most of us Christians because it is about us; we see our own frailties and weaknesses; we see all that is happening around us and it seems like things aren’t going to be fine and God’s Word hasn’t been fulfilled in our lives. Nonetheless, God’s WORD is true and if we can believe, all things are possible to us too, just as it is with God.

The contrast of faith and sight is explained by Paul the Apostle in 2 Corinthians 5:7

“For we walk by faith, not by sight” – implying that if we walk by sight, we need no faith and vice versa, we do not need sight if we walk by faith.
Like mentioned earlier, our natural thinking as men goes contrary to this. In many secular cultures, we have the saying that “seeing is believing” and we would want to rather see a thing before we believe it. This is also because we have grown with a mentality that the physical realm is more real than the unseen and we usually would want to verify anything first by what is visible to our physical senses, this includes our sight.
Yet on the contrary, the WORD of God teaches us a new order or culture, that believing is seeing. This means that whatever we believe, we will see. Believing comes first, and then we will see what we have believed.

A horse with its jockey (horse race rider) symbolizes this manner of walk; So far as that horse has its jockey on it, it keeps moving, only listening to what it’s master tells it to do. Even for horses that were used in wars, no matter the loud noises, fires and chaos happening around them, so far as the jockey remains on the horse, the horse keeps forging its way forward among the troops. This is the kind of walk the Holy Spirit wants to have with us, that we would be apt to hear and listen to His voice even as we close our natural eyes (which limits us).

Scriptural examples to this are Psalm 27:13, Hebrews 11:27, John 11:39-40

“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.”
Psalm 27:13

In this scripture, we see David saying that he would have lost heart, unless he believed: believing preceded seeing. David said if it hadn’t been that he had believed, he would have despaired or lost heart, then he continues to say that he would SEE the goodness of God.

By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.
Hebrews 11:27

In this scripture, Moses had faith and endured though he was in a very tough time and the physical situation left him without hope, yet when he exercised faith, he was able to see the unseen and endured. After believing, our eyes are opened to the unseen.

Jesus said, “Take away the stone.”
Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.”
Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”

John 11:39-40

Here, we see again from scripture, Jesus asked that the stone to the tomb of Lazarus be taken away. The physical situation was morning because Lazarus was dead but Jesus saw the unseen and had told the people that Lazarus was just sleeping. Martha is like us, Martha was still speaking from the physical point of view, by sight. So what did Jesus do? Jesus emphasized a truth HE had previously shared with them “Did I not say to you that if you would believe you would see the glory of God?”
God has delivered us from our old nature (which is used to the natural order of seeing before believing) and calls us to that place of the supernatural (believing first and then seeing) ; And this is the manner in which we shall see and experience the glory of God, the excellency of our KING.

HAPPY PASSOVER AND RESURRECTION!!!

Inspired by the book Faith To Live By, written by Derek Prince

AMANTE EXTRAÑA

“I LOVE THAT I HAD TO WAIT THIS LONG TO BE ON THIS JOURNEY WITH YOU; WHILE I WAITED, I BECAME MORE OF THE BELOVED YOU HAD BEEN WAITING FOR…”
BUT I GUESS SO I THOUGHT

I REALLY LOVE YOU BLACK GIRL

I want to tell the whole world of a peculiar love story … … …

I met this enthralling damsel not too long after I had given my life to Christ.

I had given up every pleasure I had been chasing by now, only Christ meant anything to me at this point. I was so resolute in my decision to follow Him until I was lost in Him.

I was in my 2nd year in the University by the time I became serious with pursuing Christ. By this time, my love for Him was tangible and I became committed in the campus fellowship. This led to me getting the opportunity to become one of the bible study coordinators in a small hostel quite a distant from my campus. She was in her first year, coming from a well-mannered background and a godly home, she spent most of her time in the hostel when she wasn’t in class, unlike others who were now like wild geese let out of their pens. Well, I would say I took notice of her love for God’s Word and how her contributions showed a heart that was seeking to know the Lord more and more.

After sometime at her hostel as a bible study leader, I became fond of her. I soon realized after drawing closer to her that apart from her quite reserved, yet interesting personality, she was humorous and a lovely person to hang around; Love lurks in unlikely places, you know. I later became the leader of the bible study group in her hostel and as required of us, visiting her hostel for check ups and inviting people for teaching service and to church became a usual trend. Best believe I was always extra excited about going there 😂. We built a good friendship and you would think we had been friends for ages. Our friendship clicked so well, on days when I didn’t have bible study, I would still visit her hostel ‘for the sake of souls’🤫 Well, it was expected of us to do such follow ups. I would find myself spending more time with her.

“I literally am a different person around you. I always just want to make you happy. I look out for anything I could do to make you happy. The most difficult sacrifice, maybe the only one there is, that I don’t know if I could easily make, was to live in this world without letting you know how I felt about you.”

After that semester came to close, I stayed back on campus to wait on God and finish a study I was doing. All throughout those times, I had become like a brother to her. Whether or not that was a mistake, I can’t tell but all I cared about was our friendship😂. I was quite hesitant at first to tell her how much I loved her because I was scared to mar our friendship. I knew I wasn’t expecting a relationship just then because I felt I needed some time.

Finally, I got to tell her that I had developed feelings for her and that I liked her. Well, now I know you should never tell a lady how you feel about her if you’re not ready for anything just yet. Someway somehow she pushed me away till we became close to strangers. Someone I once spoke to every single day had become a stranger.

Fast forward, it was after about 3 years, I had this call from ‘mi Amante Extraña’ and though I was quite surprised, we spoke at length, never talking about the silent period, and it was as if we never went silent for sometime. So the vibes picked up with time and I was a lot closer to her in no time. We didn’t get to talk about the silent period till after 2 years. I felt stupid for telling her about how I felt, it ruined our friendship for years. But here we were again, on this same path, everyone close advised that I be careful lest I break my heart. Well, love is quite careless, you know… and every doubt I had was dissolved in no time. We became really close once more and I felt that this was the time to tell her, because somewhere deep within my heart she was more than a friend. So I told her … … … The rest of the story remains untold 🌚

Not all love stories end on a good note, right? … It might just have been about friendship for one party and the other party ever waiting to be chosen.

I don’t think I had felt anything as strong and I don’t know if we are at the end of it all but we have obviously slipped into the place of being strangers once again.

The END?

ESHET CHAYIL🌹✨

10 Who can find a virtuous wife?

For her worth is far above rubies.

11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her;

So he will have no lack of gain.

12 She does him good and not evil

All the days of her life.

13 She seeks wool and flax,

And willingly works with her hands.

14 She is like the merchant ships,

She brings her food from afar.

15 She also rises while it is yet night,

And provides food for her household,

And a portion for her maidservants.

16 She considers a field and buys it;

From her profits she plants a vineyard.

17 She girds herself with strength,

And strengthens her arms.

18 She perceives that her merchandise is good,

And her lamp does not go out by night.

19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff,

And her hand holds the spindle.

20 She extends her hand to the poor,

Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.

21 She is not afraid of snow for her household,

For all her household is clothed with scarlet.

22 She makes tapestry for herself;

Her clothing is fine linen and purple.

23 Her husband is known in the gates,

When he sits among the elders of the land.

24 She makes linen garments and sells them,

And supplies sashes for the merchants.

25 Strength and honor are her clothing;

She shall rejoice in time to come.

26 She opens her mouth with wisdom,

And on her tongue is the law of kindness.

27 She watches over the ways of her household,

And does not eat the bread of idleness.

28 Her children rise up and call her blessed;

Her husband also, and he praises her:

29 “Many daughters have done well,

But you excel them all.”

30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,

But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.

31 Give her of the fruit of her hands,

And let her own works praise her in the gates.

proverbs 31 woman – virtous woman (woman of valor)

This is one of my favorite scriptures and it is amazing to note that some of the things that we wouldn’t consider as very important have been mentioned here. King Lemuel’s mother left him a great treasure in these few words.

In my little research, though the identity of King Lemuel is not stated, I found that the meaning of the name is ‘devoted to God’; then I realized how devoted one must be to walk with the qualities of a virtuous woman.

Chayil is the same root word from which the word chayal, used to describe Israelite armies, is found. It also means valor like the word the angel of the Lord used for Gideon.

What can you share on the virtuous woman? I would love to learn from you.
God bless you!

Come away with me

If I would find the right words to express my affection for you; among many damsels, you are excellent.

I chanced upon this beautiful vineyard and was captivated by the fragrance of clusters of henna blossoms, stirring up a desire to pursue the hidden essence of this tower.

She is a fortress of pearls and her wisdom is from that far land. Ahava, you are worthy of being loved.

When our paths crossed, like two rivers joined together, you felt like the very extension of me.

Pure love, peace and strength adorns you, your beauty is sweeter than Melita.

I have searched the earth for many names to call you because no single word could match what I have found.

I call you Chonta because you are beautiful inside out and like the palm tree, you flourish against all odds.

… O Tiaraoluwa, the body of God! I’ll call you Kilion, for the Lord made you perfect and complete.

Malki is your Lord and the river that flows from your secret place leaves men awestruck,

‘Makayla – Who is like God!?

Tales Of Martyrdom ❤ (Part 1)

I want to talk to you about Martyrs today.
Ones who have been killed because of their faith and beliefs. The origin of the word martyr is the Greek word ‘martus’ which means ‘WITNESS’; He’s one who openly professes his faith through words and actions.

The world hates the martyr or the witness because the world has not known Light; nevertheless the martyr has been sent to that same world so he tirelessly keeps at the work amidst all resistances, being resolute at accomplishing that which the Master sent him to do; up until he/she takes his/her last breath.

The world shouts at the top of their lungs’Rid the earth of such a man! he is not fit to live!’, as was said of Paul (Acts 22:22),

‘Crucify HIM!’ as was said of our Lord Jesus Christ (John 19:15),

‘Give me his head on a platter!’ as was said of John the Baptist (Matt 14:8)

…all these and many more from the beginning of the early church till today have been ruthlessly killed because of their faith in God.

Till date, the Church is still being persecuted and believers are being martyred in many parts of the world.

The body of Christ celebrates these martyrs and are constantly prepared to die for Christ Jesus too: they’re not afraid to lose their lives for Jesus and by so doing, these ones have gained Life. The blood of the martyr causes revival and awakens the Spirit of Christ in the churches.

Cold or lukewarm Christians also hail martyrs, they probably make the greatest noise about them in approval and praise, but are never ready to take the path of the martyr: they are scared to lose their lives so they lose it.

The martyrs’ testimony is that they loved not their lives, even onto death.
We can only have this same testimony if we stop living for today but live for the day of the Lord; having to keep our eyes stayed on the author and finisher of our faith and storing our treasures in Heavens till we see HIM come and become like HE is.

Let us teach one another, even our children, about Martyrdom and let us be ready to die daily for Jesus Christ because we will see more martyrs in the last day than ever because darkness and wickedness in this world would be at peak before Christ returns.

The book of Revelation records that mystery Babylon, the notorious prostitute would be drunk with the blood of the saints.
Then I saw that the woman was drunk on the blood of the saints and on the blood of the witnesses to Jesus. When I saw her, I was greatly astonished.
Revelation 17:6 HCSB

Note: ‘What you can’t die for’ is that which can’t give you Life and it’s not worth living for.

Bullied Love ❤

I see you have much love for people but why do you always try to hide it?
…you’ve been made to believe, by the experiences of life, that showing forth love is an exhibition of weakness and vulnerability.
I can’t blame you for that, most of your scars came from the people you loved and all this while, time hasn’t cleared that up yet …would it?
From the backside, you’ve learnt the tough way of surviving and you have kept your emotions behind bars… Do you not see the open doors and the streak of Light?
Neshama, listen to my voice and follow the Light out of that tomb
Yeah, pick yourself up and love again
Step out and breath, have a taste of freedom again
See the rivers of love inside you hitting their banks, won’t you pull down those limitations?
Love is strong, that’s your strength
Love is beautiful, that’s your make-up
Love and be loved ❤
